Seminar Description:
S16: College Calculus with Mathematica
Seminar Objective
To give a broad overview of calculus functions in Mathematica along
with applications and a discussion of the internal methods used for
solving problems.
Presenter
The seminar is presented by a senior member of the Mathematica
kernel developer group.
Topics
- Introduction to calculus functions
- Indefinite and definite integration
- Methods for solving differential equations
- Solitary waves
- Minimal surfaces
- The Painlevé equations
- "Show me the steps to..."
- Interaction between discrete and infinitesimal calculus
- Documentation and other resources for calculus
Delivery Type The seminar is delivered live over the
internet using Adobe Acrobat Connect. Use any one of the
supported web browsers on
your computer with Flash Player installed. Once you have registered for a session, you will receive a
confirmation email with a seminar login link. To see and hear the

Adobe Connect natively supports streaming audio and video. A
telephone audio conference is also available, should you prefer to
join via phone; a toll-free number is provided for callers in the
U.S. and Canada.
Additional information about online courses
and seminars is available.
Materials
Mathematica notebooks and other materials from the seminar will be
made available at the end of the presentation.
Prerequisites
No background or previous experience with Mathematica is required
to attend this seminar. A basic knowledge of calculus including
derivatives, integrals, and differential equations is helpful.
