Q&A

Q: How can I register for a class?
You can register on the training calendar and registration page. If you would prefer to phone in your registration, please call 1-800-WOLFRAM (965-3726). Our Customer Service department (option two from the initial prompt) will be able to assist you. You can also complete and print the registration form and fax it to +1-217-398-1108, Attn: Orders.

Q: Do you have a class located in my city?
Please see our training calendar for a listing of classes, the cities in which they are located, and the dates they are offered.

Q: What does a class cost?
The training calendar lists the cost of each class. Discounts for Premier Service subscribers, educators, and students are available.

Q: How are courses delivered?
Our courses are delivered as instructor-led classes in computer classroom facilities or as online classes delivered over the web. Lecture and hands-on formats are used in all classes, allowing students to interact with the materials, other classmates, and the certified instructor.

Q: What are the differences between mini-courses and other Wolfram Education Group courses?
Mini-courses are short courses (3-4 hours in length) designed to cover special topics of interest to Mathematica users. They are written and taught by senior Mathematica developers, and provide insight into emerging features and technologies within Mathematica. Mini-courses are inexpensive, practical, and are offered mostly online, providing greater flexibility for the student's schedule.

Wolfram Education Group one- and two-day courses offer complete training experiences, covering a broader set of topics within a particular area; they provide a foundation on which to develop your Mathematica skills. Small class sizes and personal direction from certified instructors enhance the training experience in our full-day courses.

Q: How do online classes work?
The certified instructor leads the class using web-based technology to present the course materials. Participants join the class from their computers and by phone teleconference. See the online training information to learn more about online classes.

Q: What is included with the course?
Each student will be provided with a set of course notes in electronic form, and students in classroom facilities will also receive print copies of the course notes. The electronic version of the course requires Mathematica to install and run. A computer running the current version of Mathematica is provided for student use in classroom facilities, and a 30-day training version of Mathematica is available to students in online classes. Each student will receive a certificate of course completion.

Q: What do I need to bring to class?
For students at computer classroom facilities, all course materials are provided, including a computer running Mathematica for student use during class. Students are responsible for their own meals and lodging, and photo IDs are required at some locations. For instructions for online class students, please see the online training information.

Q: What topics are included in my class?
For the course syllabus and prerequisites for each class, see the course descriptions.

Q: What times are the classes offered?
Classes held at classroom facilities run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (local time). Online class times vary. Please see the training calendar for a listing of classes and the dates and times the classes are offered.

Q: How can my organization register several people for training?
You can submit individual registrations from the training calendar, or our Customer Service department can assist you with multiple registrations. In the U.S. or Canada, please call 1-800-WOLFRAM (965-3726). In other locations, please email your request to education@wolfram.com. Organizations that register several people should consider joining the Education Benefits Program. This program provides onsite training discounts and enrollment credits for center-based classes. The Benefits Program allows organizations to apply for credit terms so that attendees can register without having to supply fees out of pocket.

Q: Can I earn CPDUs for attending Wolfram Education Group seminars and courses?
Wolfram Research is an approved professional development provider with the Illinois State Board of Education. Seminars and courses offered by Wolfram Education Group qualify for CPDUs in the State of Illinois. Please request the necessary forms by sending email to Wolfram Education Group.

Q: What about reimbursement from my employer?
Many employers will reimburse the costs of certified Mathematica training. Request a copy of your Wolfram invoice and your course certificate by contacting Wolfram Education Group at education@wolfram.com. Our address is Wolfram Education Group, 100 Trade Center Drive, Champaign, Illinois, 61820-7237, U.S.A.

Q: Can I use a purchase order to pay for my class?
Purchase orders are accepted. Unless credit terms are preapproved, payment is required prior to the first day of class.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
Tuition for center-based training is fully refundable if notice is received 15 days before the first day of the scheduled class. Notice is considered to be the submission of a cancellation notice to (and acknowledgment from) Wolfram Education Group at education@wolfram.com. Canceling a center-based class less than 15 days before the scheduled first day will result in a 25 percent cancellation fee. Student substitutions are acceptable. Tuition for online training is nonrefundable but can be applied to a different training class if there is a need to reschedule. Please see the scheduling policy information.

Q: What is your rescheduling policy?
Notice of a need to reschedule must be received and acknowledged by Wolfram Education Group at education@wolfram.com 15 days before the first day of the scheduled class. Rescheduling a class less than 15 days before the scheduled first day will result in a 10 percent rescheduling fee. If Wolfram Education Group cannot provide training due to circumstances beyond our control, a full refund of tuition paid will be made. Please see the scheduling policy information.
