What Is MathLM?

MathLM is Wolfram Research's license-management tool used for controlling and distributing network processes for Mathematica, gridMathematica, and others of our products. Installed on the license server, MathLM is used to control an arbitrary number of processes. Running Wolfram Research programs on machines connected to the license server requires the purchase of one or more network processes per desired main program.

The license manager runs on a server and controls the number and type of main-program processes that can be run simultaneously. When purchasing MathLM or additional processes, you are supplied with passwords that instruct the license manager how many processes of what type you have licensed.

The actual Mathematica or other programs can be installed locally on the client machines, or kept on the server and floated out to clients on an as-needed basis.
