Mathematica Shapes As Seen on TV
For animated graphics to accompany their upcoming series "Mathematics:
The Invisible Universe", PBS
called on Tom Casey, a computer animation specialist at Home Run Pictures. Turning
mathematics into graphics, Casey found, was an ideal job for
Mathematica.
"So far our assignments have involved showing how equations define
various shapes and creating models to demonstrate a theory of knots,"
explains Casey. The series, scheduled to air next fall, will feature
interviews with prominent mathematicians. As it is still in production, we
don't yet know how many more Mathematica-generated graphics will be
included. Stay tuned for more later!
